4ΤΡΟΧΟi : We drive the Greek Keraboss Super K

Keraboss Super K is officially here. With license plates and full legalization, in order to circulate and be available in Greece. We drive it and bring you our impressions.

A few days ago, the news that Keraboss Super K  managed to issue license plates, overcoming after many years the “monster” of our country’s bureaucracy, shut down the internet. And not unfair.

What exactly is Keraboss Super K? Certainly, this is not a mass-produced vehicle made by a big, established house or automaker. In this case, we are dealing with a special construction literally made by hand by Keraboss Cars Manufacturing , which is driven by Pavlos Keraboss and his wife, Stella.

The Keraboss Super K, which we had the opportunity to drive, is a vehicle that belongs to the special category entitled “Individual Vehicles of Special Construction” carrying all the necessary certifications and approvals for free circulation on Greek roads – as a passenger vehicle.

Its fiberglass “casing” , as well as its galvanized frame, which are entirely manufactured by Keraboss Cars Manufacturing and its partners in our country, are the dominant elements of the construction ensuring, according to their creators, durability and longevity “against » in the humidity and salt of the sea – which justifies the designation of the Super K as an island car.

The body, which resembles something of a military build and a small SUV vehicle, is under 3.4 m long, with its height and width almost identical (1,590 and 1,560 mm). It may be labeled ‘Greek’, as its frame is indeed ‘Greek’, as is its outer casing which ‘snaps’ onto the chassis, however the Keraboss Super K uses individual mechanical parts and components from other manufacturers – primarily smart , which Pavlos Kerabos knows very well.

The Super K’s lightly used 1.0-litre engine is from Mitsubishi – and for the occasion the one that powered the second-generation smart. It delivers 72 horsepower and works with a 5-speed automatic transmission. In its particularly modest interior, everything “shouts” smart, while the absence of comforts, such as… side windows and air conditioning, is typical. In contrast, basic safety features such as ABS and ESP make a thunderous presence, as does the option to order the car with 4 seats.

Although it looks ready to … rush into the dirt, the rear-wheel drive Super K is not a purebred off-road vehicle . Not that it won’t do on the beaten track, a passable dirt road or small off-road climbs – quite the opposite. From then on, on the asphalt the Greek creation of Keraboss Cars Manufacturing “delivers” exactly what it promises, without ever advertising something it cannot achieve . Crucial to the Super K’s “nimble” behavior is the suspension setup, which doesn’t let the light 840kg bodyto tilt. Although it almost eliminates inclines (s.s.: an element that initially alienates but then is duly appreciated!), it offers satisfactory comfort, without missing the small bounces of the rear axle on the very “curvy” Greek roads.

From there, the steering wheel with its characteristic light feel, thanks to strong assistance, makes the Super K a game to maneuver , and it remains only for the driver to get used to it at the highest speeds. The engine, on the other hand, is certainly up to the task, making light work of it thanks to the light and robust body it turns out. In essence, it sounds as much as it should… in the Super K’s sound-proof interior , offering at the same time the necessary firmness for inter-city commuting – and in a safe environment outside the city, a top speed that reaches 145 km / h .
